Built into windows is a calculator. Just take 1 and divide it by 8 and it will show .125.
If someone posts .17 you get it into gradeschool ruler fractions by multiplying by 16.
.17 is 2.72 sixteenths ( a bit less than 3/16).

Next time you're in a hardware store ask if they have a pocket-sized machinists decimal equivalent or drill size chart.....can't cost much and may even be free. Look it over and I think you'll see its value in keeping all those fractions in line!

Next time you're in a hardware store ask if they have a 6" metal pocket ruler and look at the back. They often put that decimal equivalents chart on them.
