Exec size missing from the current range

I remember an old Executive that I had some years ago, which was about the same size as the (also discontinued) small Bob T C19 that I also have (BTW, still looking for another).
I think that this particular blade (and knife) size had its merits, being larger than the Co-Pilots and the Mice, but smaller than the Natives and the Delicas that start to scare some people. Even my beautiful Calypso jr looks like a weapon to some people, even with the theoretically legal sub-3" blade.

Wouldn't it be interesting if we had a modern G-10 Executive, or something in the 2.5" blade category? There is definitely something missing there. I have looked at other manufacturers' product ranges and there is nothing like my C19 if we compare blade size and overall strength (like a discreet and legal "mini-tactical", I hate the T-word but I have to use it to explain the meaning).
For example, I have a BM Stryker jr, but this is definitely a "deadly weapon" in the eyes of most people.

This is more to comfort than confront you, so I hope you don't take it the wrong way.
Regardless of how a particular knife is promoted, when it goes below 3" or 3 1/4" in blade length, it is difficult to address it as a 'tactical' knife. I don't think you should worry about people who are scared of something in that range, they need to get a life, IMHO. At 5" blade length and above, I can understand how discomfort could become an issue. It worries me and some people I know that more and more people are starting to address 4" blade folders as'big', when they are actually pretty average for a pocket knife. I try to enlighten and comfort them the best I can.

Have you considered the Dragonfly, CoPilot, and there maybe some g-10 Navigators still around? They are in the general range you specified.

Take a peek at my current thread for possible variations of the Co Pilot! cast your vote for a G10 model!

"No Co Pilot variations?"

I have already voted for a G-10 Co-Pilot!

But the Co-Pilot, the Navigator and the Cricket are smaller blades, the size I am talking about is "half-a-size" larger. It is not so easy to understand this just from the specs, you need to hold an old Executive or an old small Bob T C19 in your hand to see that these are really larger and more useful, but they are small enough not to raise an eyebrow (which happens at around the size of the Native for us city-people).

There was a (apparently unauthorized) photo of a prototype (Compression Lock, Cobra Hood)from the Blade show that looks like it might fit the bill. I was able to play w/ the plastic mock-up at the NYC show in November- if it makes it to production, I think it will be a winner. The Meerkat is nice- but I'm personally not terribly thrilled w/ the little hooked point a' la Cricket. Here's the thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum52/HTML/001246.html

hey Rugger. The Meerkat will come in two blade shapes for those that do not like the "bent tip" of the cricket.

The 2.5" model you refer to is now named "Salsa".

Thank you Sal-
Great news on the blade choice in the Meerkat.
Also good to know that the "Salsa" now has a name. I'll keep my eyes peeled & my fingers crossed.
Regards-
Mike
