Executive Model?

While searching for answers to the trivia question I came across mention of an Executive model. I can't remember that one for anything. I did remember the Spyderkey/Hummingbird after it was described. Could someone jog my memory on this model?

I have a mind like a steel trap--that has turned to rust!

Paul,

Here are the specs on the C04 executive knife:

G2 steel 1/8" thick
2.5" blade length
5.75" open overall length
3.5" closed length
3.2 oz blade
smooth metal handle

The blade style was a drop point available plain or serrated and also as a left hander.

Hope this helps.

Paul,
Spyderco also produced a model a few years back called the Spur which I believe was built on a similar sized/profile handle. It was configured like a mini-Provenator - rubber interframe, rubbered clip and 50/50 plain/spyderedge blade.

I too was curious as to the Executive. I can' t remember how it looked. Can anyone provide a pic? Appreciate it.

I remember the spur quite well, but still can't find a picture of the Executive. I have gone back through catalogs going back at least 5 years (I have every brochure and catalog I've ever gotten, much to my fiancees chagrin!) I'm with Nakano--who's got a picture? I even remember the Dive Probe pretty well but the executive is drawing a blank.

Oh yeah, Thanks bald1 for the specs! Was it similar to a scaled down Hunter (C03)?

Paul, Nakano,

I have a picture but no place to store it for linking here. The 1993 spring Cutlery Shoppe catalog has the Executive on page 10.
Also shown is the Hunter which is basically a Pro-Venator with plain steel scales although the blade has less belly for the same length. The Executive isn't really a scaled down hunter as the spline curves continuously to the drop point whereas on the hunter the spline has much less slope once you drop down from the spyderhole. I guess the best description of the executive blade is a "chopped" or shortened pro-venator blade.

Don't know if this helps or just adds more confusion......
I know I have an old catalog somewhere with a Spur in it but alas I haven't found it. Instead again I came across those neat Tie Clipits and Spyderkeys (1991). Sal was right.... the abalone versions looked great.

I was visiting London about two months ago, and I spotted a Spyderco Executive with a plain (non-serrated) blade in a shooting and fishing shop called Woody's of Wembley, and the price, if I remember correctly, was about 60 GBP.
Now, if someone wanted it real badly, he could try to find the store's phone number (I might have it somewhere).

Anyone who spots old discontinued Spydies anywhere in the world should tell us on this forum. For example, has anyone seen an old tie-clip Clipit??? I WANT IT!

I've got a few of the execs--- I always considered it the co-pilots big brother. I have the old handled models w/o the beveled edges one right and one left, one serrated and one plain. Also have the spur, a great little knife! The execs have the old style clips that used to eat up the inside of my suit jackets/ sportscoats. I guess I'll have to order some new clips so I can start carrying those again. With all the tight security in D.C. now I can't bring my big boys to work anymore.
