I have a pair of Exotic Kamagong Arnis Sticks (similar to Ironwood) that I picked up on a recent trip to the Philippines.
There are many types of wood over there and among the most expensive is Kamagong. Also known as Ebony or Black Ivory. The kamagong or mabolo (Diospyros philippinensis) is prized for its excellent ebony wood. It is usually found in forests where hardy and beautiful trees such as the molave are abundant. This type of forest are found in drier places and limestone regions.
The kamagong is also valued for its fruits and shade. However, there is a dwindling supply of kamagong in the Philippines today. Its used for the finest wood carvings, and in weaponry for its strength.
