I've just ordered a BK-9, and I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with good or bad?

It is an excellent knife. Thin and acute edge, cuts well, balanced fairly neutral so works well as a small machete. The only real problem was that I found the handle to be a bit slick, but a lot of people like the feel.

Thanks Cliff for the info. Do you also know how the sheath holds up, and if it has any security problems? :)

OGRE, I really like my BK-9.. takes and holds a good edge..I agree with Cliff  The edge is thin and it's kind of neutral. And that works out great for this knife....

Gave mine a Convex edge, sharpened the false edge and gave it a choil.. Now it's really Sweet! I really like the handle.. Like the thickness and fact that it's not rough. I seem to get blisters with rough handled choppers, but don't have near the problems with slick ones.

Last August, I took mine camping with me. It was used to spilt logs for the fire, make kindling and cut Marshmellow sticks. Did a good job at all tasts. :)

Sheath is holding up nicely.. No real complaints except for the ocational rattle. Made a custom fitted Leather sheath for mine.. Elliminated the rattle and looks a little more traditional. I think you will like your BK-9!

No BK-9 for me, but I have a BK-7 and BK-10. Both are great blades, and give outstanding value for the price. Only comment I have is that the scabbard on the BK-7 is so tight that it started removing the finish from the blade the very first time it was drawn. Since my knife is a user I don't really have a problem with that but if your a guy who likes your knives pretty and pristine, don't put it in the sheath.

I think that, for the money, the BK9 is one of the best production knives available. I haven't beaten the tar out of mine yet, but it has held an edge well in some chopping (for fun) and splitting kindling (for the fireplace), has pried apart partially split logs, and has performed decently slicing vegetables in the kitchen. The sheaths seem to vary in fit, from way too loose to way too tight, but mine is just right. There are numerous posts on how to fix this problem should your sheath have it. If it turns out that the handle doesn't fit your hand (it's big!), you should have no trouble trading it.

I love my bk9! Takes an awesome edge, comes very sharp from the factory, easy to resharpen. The handle is a tad big, and I don't exactly have waifish hands, but its forgivable. Awesome chopper, great slicer(for its size), you should be nothing but pleased.

Thanks for the input. I can't wait to get my BK-9. I do have large hands, so hopefully the factory slabs will work. :)

the factory handles tend to get slippery when you sweat
i removed mine and cord wrapped it
it's a great beater
i took down saplings with mine with ease
100% recommended

but please clean and oil it
i got small black dots on mine :(

hey wildmanh, could you post any pics...i'm thinking about puttin' a choil on my bk7. thanks!
