I was reading in David Boye's book that the recommended hardness for A2 is HRc 62. He also mentions that a cryogenic treatment can raise that to 63-64 with no loss of toughness. Oddly enough, some sources show a peak in toughness at a tempering temperature of 375-400, which is in the range for a hardness of 62. Does anyone have any experience with it used at that high hardness?
