Experience with eternaLights(tm)??

I just started carrying this line and I must say I am impressed. It is, however, certainly NOT a "zipper" light unless you like getting hit with a 3.5"x2.5" object whenever you move. Different modes, different brightness levels (12 of 'em!)- very cool gadget. Great runtime on 3AA batteries- at the lowest level you get 700 hours or somesuch silly number and at the highest with all 4 LEDs blazing you get roughly 50 hours. Prices have dropped to $55 SRP from the $75 SRP in the near past. The Ergo marine is the best one I previewed- 3.5 oz and comes with Energizer Li AA's- it's so light, it floats and is waterproof, not just water resistant. I kept one for myself. It's about the size of a Motorola Startac as a reference.

Their website photos don't reference the size of the lights; from their copy I thought they were describing a "zipper" light. Runtime isn't a factor for me, brightness is. At the highest level, do you know what the output of the Marine is in LUMENS? The price is still a shock (for what looks like a "toy"), but I guess I might have to try the Marine. ;)

Thanks for the info, Tim!

No clue on lumen output, but it's no match for the 6P you mentioned. I compared it to my E1 and it's roughly the equivalent - the E1 is brighter and will penetrate farther but the EL will put out a whiter, softer light that is good for close-in work. It suffices for walking around in the dark, makes a cool bath toy for a little kid (strobe feature on water is neat) and generally takes a beating with no complaint. It won't replace any of my SureFires, but it's not a bad complement at all.

I have take measurement of a lot of light and have them posted on my site.
