Anyone have any experience with one of these knives? I see one for sale locally and wondering if they are decent or junk.

It really depends on whether it is an original Schrade made in the U.S, or if it is a current production knife that is made overseas...

The current Scharde knives are Schrade in name only, and are made overseas...They are not the same quality knives we have been using for many years.

If it is a U.S made Scharde, they are great knives. U.S Schrades are highly regarded knives because of the quality, and they primarily used 1095 carbon steel, and with their heat treat they work really well, and are easy to sharpen... They did also use Stainless Steel, but that is not the steel they are famous for.

And you should be able to get a USA made Schrade Old Timer in good shape for not a lot of money. The new Charades are not the same steel quality.
