I've always been a huge fan of Ontario Old Hickory kitchen and butcher knifes. Great high carbon steel that take a razor edge. Only recently have I tried one of the newer offerings, a RAT-3. I've read mixed reviews and the consensus seems to be that they are a decent all-around knife but not quite in the class of ESEE or Beckers due to their presumed heat treating process but a respectable knife nonetheless. Anyway, when I receive my RAT-3 I was immediately impressed with how well it fit my hand. Very comfortable and no hot spots. The size was spot-on perfect and it came with a decent sheath and a TekLok. My only concern was that it didn't appear to have been through the final sharpen/hone process because it was less than what I would call sharp. One quick phone call to OKC an they emailed me a FedEx return label and off it went for warranty work, no questions asked. Two weeks later I have the knife back home and it's still not quite razor sharp but a few quick passes on a strop took care of that. Last weekend I removed the handles and accidentally stripped one of the brass spacers so I shot them an email inquiring about how to purchase a replacement set. To my surprise the emailed me back the next day asking for my address and told me that they would be sending me not one, but five (5) complete sets of spacers and screws at no cost to me. That's a class act in my book. You just don't find customer service like that anymore. If that is merely a sales tactic it worked well because I have now decided to add at least one more OKC to my knife collection.
