Experiences with Rockstead Hizen ZDP?

Hey all!

Just looking for some anecdotes/comments on those who carry and use their Rockstead Hizen ZDP often. How does it hold up? I’m concerned about the brittleness, but how is it in reality? I’ve only every tried YXR7.

I love that the knives stay razor sharp for so long. I dislike that after stropping so much they actually need sharpening and I’m not able to do the 0 degree edge. Therefore my Rocksteads are going to have to be sent back to Japan. PITA

WOK said they can do a solid micro bevel on them with their wicked edge. I'm about to send them my shu. I can let you know how it goes if interested.

They've been excellent for me. I do intentionally keep them out of wood, tight wire ties and the likes. Haven't chipped any. They will have to go out for sharpening though, I'm not that brave.

My William Henry knives with ZDP-189 blades at 67HRC sharpen up easily on Shapton Glass Al2O3 stones.

Also chipped my zdp tei trying to strip a wire. Small chip but can’t strop out easily. I don’t recommend hard use zdp Rockstead at all.
