This finish was made with the drugstore superglue where you get six or eight tubes in one package. A small sheath of veg tan tooling leather. The back side looks OK. The front side not so much because I globbed on extra CA thinking it would be a nice decorative touch. The problem with the thicker areas of CA is that they have white spots. The white spots might be from curing too fast. I sprayed accelerator on it, so maybe that was the problem. I think I will try this again sometime without the accelerator, on scrap leather.

Looks plasticky? I guess so, but I think it looks okay on the back side.

I saturated the leather as much as possible to add stiffness to the whole sheath. It is stiff, and it fits tight for this kiridashi. But I don't know if it was worth the burning in my eyes with all those fumes. Also I glued my fingers together, which was scary.

The sheath is quite functional for securely holding a flat piece like this.

If you have ideas or experience with this kind of finish, your comments are welcome.

Sorry I got these pictures from Box and that didn’t work.

Try keeping a bottle of nail polish remover around, for those pesky times you glue your fingers together. voice of experience. rtmind/randy
