Experimental Calypso Jr w/ Micarta

I just got this knife and the box said it was an experinment. Were there many of these made? In any event I like it.

I think they were made for a year or two, then discontinued.

What is the blade material? If it is VG-10 where did you get the knife?

The blade is AUS-8, Plain Edge

Sorry, false alarm. I sure wish I could get my hands on a micarta handled, plain edged, VG-10 Calypso, Jr. Thanks for the info anyway.

That combination was available in the Calypso,
a much larger knife, butt just as smooth and capable,
and is still available at some sources.

Hard to believe that the Calypso design is gone entirely.

I doubt there are any out there. Just finding the one I got took a lot of surfing. I would rather have a different metal for the blade but this is the fourth knive I carry on a daily basis along side of an Spyderco Endura, Spyderco Massad Ayoob, and Kersaw Onion.

The larger C54BMP, CALYPSO, MICARTA has the VG-10 but verify with them before buying. All the small ones C52 are AUS-8 but as you now know are very fine cutlery indeed.
