Recoil magazine is touting an article for great EDC knives on their cover. This is a magazine about tactical firearms and the lifestyle. So I'm figuring, these guys tout $4000+ outfitted ARs on their cover, so their knife recommendations should be informative and interesting.

Haha. Right. Instead I see 7 or 8 low cost, mostly imported folders featuring old school 4xx stainless or Chinese xCrxMOV. Seriously? Spend $4500 on the rifle and $24.99 on the knife. Makes me seriously question their firearms recommendations and my desire to ever buy another issue.

Has Blade Forums turned me into a knife snob? Or should a publication like this that attempts to recommend quality and reliable tools for serious tactical enthusiasts know better?

Yes, we're all snobs here haha.

I wouldn't take knife advice from a gun Magazine Or Vice Versa.

High dollar guns and Bottom dollar knives.

Makes no sense.

Recoil magazine is a parady gun magazine
for all tier 1

I know many people who buy a $700 hunting rifle and then but a $100 scope on it.I just smile and suggest that they consider spending the same amount that they paid for the rifle on good optics.Their eyes always seem to bulge. It's funny how a year later they ask my recommendation for a good scope.I usually tell them to start looking again and suggest a mid to upper Leupold model. After they pony up the cash and mount the scope they are set for many, many years. It seems to me the advertising and marketing and they money spent into steering consumers towards brands seems to work on some who are less educated and informed. You have to understand that magazines rely on advertising revenue to keep the lights on and therefore give preferential reviews and turn the spotlight on certain manufacturers whom the revenue is originating from.I use such magazines, reviews, and articles for reference purposes only.We are not snobs, just more educated and informed........This is the gift of the internet and forums like this one......

Our gun club prez doesn't balk at spending $10,000 on his guns but is shocked at me spending more than $20 on a knife, so yes, they must have a target audience.
