Howdy folks. I have been 'redoing' this old PIC Bowie I bought. I stripped offthe junky cracked handles and remade some niiice ones out of some Cocobola. I have never worked with this wood before , it is very pretty stuff ! My problem is I used Birchwood Casey's gun stock refinisher on it , it is made with linseed oil. I have used this stuff many times and never had this happen... I put on the first coast last night about 9pm , it is now 12pm the following day and it is still tacky to the touch , usually it dries in 2-3 hours..
Any ideas ? I read that Cocobola is quite a waxy wood , I used steel wool beforehand to make it smooth and cleaned the dust off with denatured alcohol... I cant figure out why it hasnt dried yet.
Thanks folks.

Thr rosewood family (cocobolo is part of it) naturally contain high amounts of oil. This can prevent additional oils in finishes from soaking in. You could try wipeing off the excess and applying light heat. One other thing that some of the other folks here beat into my head is that you should wear a respirator when working this family of wood since it is fairly toxic. You may already be doing this.

Don't bother to use any oil finish,it doesn't need it,and won't take it.Sand to at least 800,wax with a hard wax,and buff well. It doesn't even really need the wax.
