Experts, can you explain these differing 110 tang stamps?

So, I recently ordered these two 50th Anniversary 110's and received them today - very nice! But here's the thing: I ordered these two specimens from the same dealer, and not only do these have the same model #, bar code #, and CAT. # on the boxes, but they also have the exact same production date (10/15/2014)... but they have different tang stamps. One has "BUCK USA" and the "50" on the anvil; the other has the "50" anvil and "USA" only. Any ideas? Did they switch tang stamps mid-day on 10/15/2014, or did the knives/boxes get shuffled? Curious...

Wow, lots of variants out there! Thanks for the link. But I'm still wondering how I got two different stamps with the exact same production date on the boxes. Best guess is probably that the boxes got shuffled, I guess...

It's a little odd but happens. The blades stamped without the word "BUCK" were made approx. Dec 2013 to Feb 2014. Generally the tang marking is when the blade is stamped and the box date is when it was assembled & boxed. I have lots of Buck knives in my collection where the blade code and the box date differ by a year. I'd say you were lucky to get both stamps.

I thought the date on the Buck box was the date the knife was packaged, not the date the knife was built?? OH

You could be right. With the lean manufacturing model the two are probably close to being the same these days. It would be nice if someone actually from Buck was a little more active here.
