There's one I see all over the forum here, and another on the website that doesn't show up in the list of finishes.

What does NMF actually mean/what does it look like?

What does the Double Cut finish look like (it's currently available on the CGSHBM)?

Double Cut is bead-blasted finish.

By NMF I assume you're talking about Nuclear Meltdown... which is rounded edges on the exposed parts of the tang, the talonhole, and the spine.

So, is that what the shinier uncoated blades I see 'round here are?

Possibly. The military overrun Anniversary Mean Street is doublecut, if you've seen one of those.

They are uncoated, but not polished up like Satin finish. It is more labor intensive than coating, but less than satin... so it costs somewhere in between.

No, the shinny ones are SATIN, DCBB is (double cut bead blasted).

He may be referring to CF Competition Finish, which is shiny, but not as "refined" as satin finish. (I know YOU know that, Russ! :))

Then of course there is the CF that was used on the BWM's, which isn't any shinier than doublecut (because it IS doublecut)...

Confuuuuuuuuse.

Doublecut (twice bead-blasted using one blasting medium to "cut", then another finer medium to "seal", IIRC):

Nuclear Meltdown Finish (note the rounded spine, guard, pommel, & "blended" lines on the blade, plus the "ball bearing finish" on the holes:

On the few FC Ratweilers, too...IIRC :)

...and the Hell Razor variants...although technically, they pre-dated the term "Conpetition Finish" (note the dimples :)).

So what I'm seeing here is that, basically, there's a whooole lot of really pretty ways to get a Busse knife done. :p

Jaxx, that NMFBM is a Beauty! What kind of handle is that? It has a great pattern and color:thumbup:

Believe it or not, it's Tigerhide linen micarta. There were some pretty wild variances with that micarta during the short run of these...

Here's my other 6 side by side showing how much they varied away from the normal Tigerhide. I was not happy with the handles originally, but they grew on me and now I'm really glad that I didn't ask for them to be rehandled.

Awesome explanation with the pictures, Jaxx! I couldn't have said it better myself :D Your pics are SWEET!
