Explain the BK11 wire breaker

Ok, I know the BK11 specs state that the deeper notch at the rear with the bottle opener is a "wire breaker". I've seen how other wire breakers are used with military knives/bayonets and sheaths, but I'm not getting how this one is supposed to work. Maybe it is just too obvious for me to get or I'm just a dolt. Can someone post a photo or video that shows this? I hate having a feature on anything that I own that I don't know how to use or at least try once.

I assume you put the wire as far down in the notch and twist back and forth until the wire breaks (gripping the knife with the sheath on of course).???

I've never done it But my guess would be this...

1. Keep the knife in the sheath
2. Place the deep notch over the wire (so the knife is vertically perpendicular to the wire)
3. Rotate the knife counter clockwise and clockwise until wire is broken

Hope this helps!

Knife in sheath, place the wire in the notch, bend the wire 90 degrees until it is parallel and held onto the sheath, hold the wire with one hand and rotate the knife/sheath with opposite hand, until the wire breaks.

Far better is to use your Leatherman tool (or equivalent) to cut the wire,,,,,, and fill in the dumb slot wire breaker/bottle cap remover on the BK-11 so you will not cut your palm while using the knife.

FK
