Explain this machete design and identify

I suppose that's for delimbing? Isn't that what the blade is for? Perhaps the feature is for removing one's cooking vessel from the fire [a la Ron Hood/Hoodlum]?

It's entirely possible the hook is simply so you can hang it up.

But I like the pot hook idea.
 
after doing some searching, i believe it's a Bushwacker Limb Trim machete that's about 40 years old (made by ontario knife co).

Thanks. I still can't figure out the limb feature. One thing i thought of was to "grab" limbs to pull down that have fruit/berries on them. :confused:
 
it might be used for trimming branches of their leaves or cutting vines.

Yeah, a thrust attack would be made even nastier with the withdrawal due to that harpoon-like notch :eek:


I still don't get the limbing idea. I guess it's useful if one doesn't have the room to swing a blade properly?
