I was inspired by David Browns Original exposed spine sheaths and decided to try one one in leather to see what the fuss was all about. I actually took some time today and made myself a sheath.

Its really a pretty neat design. I like it. The date is wrong on the pics, I forgot to reset it.

Dang Chuddy... Just when I think your work couldn't get any better... It does! Very nice...

Good work man. Clean and simple. I like it very much. I actually made one where I used the talon to secure the knife. You used the choil. Very cool; congratulations on a fine job.

Cool design. I like it. You'll never have to worry about cutting the retention strap on the draw with that style.

Very cool!
Dave tells me the exposed spine has been around for years.

Correct! I cant remember his name but a fellow that made custom scabbards for Khuk's way back made them all with an exposed spine. They were wood with a leather casing. Really nice stuff. He called his business the Sarki Shop.

He had been making them for quite a while before I came on here in '01, but he stopped, and has been out for quite a while. Those sheaths have become real collectors items.

I do remember him saying that it was an old design.

I really like your interpretation Chuddy! Nice stuff. :)

When I did my first "spineless sheath" way back I remember it drove me nuts getting it to secure properly. Khuks are a natural for that style but straight spine knives are a bit more complicated.

I really like this style, nice to see some steel exposed, sexy.
Do you think it could collect more dirt, junk by beeing so open?
Marc

I like it! It just so happens that I will have a Regulator Bowie next week in need of some trousers.

This design should work excellently for a Khukri or something like a Randall-Made Sasquatch. Would you like to make one for mine? The blade isn't heat treated yet, but this could be ready by New Years to be sent to you for a sheath.---Joe

hey chuddy bear,

excellent, top notch work, i have handled your sheaths and you do awesome, top shelf work. are you going to make one for the killa z?

Very nice sheath Chuck.
