Looking into purchasing an Extrema Ratio, Not sure which to purchase at a $250 cap, and preferably under 4in blade. Any suggestions?

I've never had one but been seeing a lot on (( not a paid BF Dealer )) lately good shop to deal with to.

Ive got one of their folders, the BF2 CDS aka. the Pitbull. It is just like the BF2 CD, but with a shorter blade. The S stands for short if my memory serves me right.

The BF2 CD has a 3,4 inch blade and the CDS has a 2,5 inch blade. The knife also comes in a tanto configuration or with milled aluminum scales.

Its a great knife and it just oozes quality. The lock-up is crazy solid and the thumb-activated secondary lock gives it an industrial look with the allen screws and the aluminum cover. In short, its a great knife.

I can not comment on their fixed blades other than they are top-notch products. Many of their products design is a bit over the top for my taste, but their BF2 folders are just the thing.

I own several of Fox Knives, which is kinda in the same ballpark as Extrema Ratio(same steel and same handle material), I also own an Extrema Ratio Shrapnel OG which I have used a lot. Can't speak for all their knives, but a lot of them seem to be quite functional.

The quality of my Shrapnel is superb. I have nothing bad to say about it. Full flat grind(almost), very comfy handle(that's the reason why ER knives' handles look kinda goofy) and a strong DLC-like coating and made in Italy. Can also take off the handle for maintenance.

The N690 cobalt steel is an incredibly good and underrated steel. I would call it a premium steel. The Forprene elastomer handles both ER and Fox Knives use is very similar to Resiprene C, that Busse uses. Forprene will not rot or detoriorate in any natural environment.

Extrema Ratio is a company people either love or hate :) Be aware that there are a lot of fake ER's out there.

Also, the reason why they are extra pricey in the US is probably cause they're European-made. American-made knives are also more expensive to buy here
in Europe. Probably has something to do with importing etc.
