I seem to remember some time ago a discussion about a 2 but lengthened to the size of a 9 however I can't seem to find the thread where it was discussed. Does anyone else remember this? Also related to that if I were to build a custom knife similar to a 2 but about 10" of blade length and used uncle E's micarta scales for the handle would anyone be offended or would it be cool?

From what I've seen on here, E's usually cool with one-off's inspired by his designs that borrow specific features like the handle. I'd still shoot him a message out of courtesy and respect, and to CYA. Not that I would expect anyone to come after you over a one-of-a-kind custom.

As for a 2/9 hybrid, I'd like to see that. A 9-10", .25" thick Becker, preferably with a FFG. Probably won't do any better than a BK9, if it's even as good, but a 1/4" piece of steel is a comfort. I'm tempted to get an Ontario RD9 even though I'm told the BK9 performs better.

You could just go buy an old Camillus BK9. Slap some Ka-Bar micarta on it and you're in business.

Yep that's the the thread I remember seeing, thanks warrior for the links. I think I will borrow some of everyone's ideas that I like for this knife and do a build thread with lots o pictures.... As for the idea if finding an older Camillus Bk-9 it would probably be too much $$ and I wouldn't get the experience of doing the build myself. Besides that I already have a fairly good size .25x2" chunk of 1095 sitting on the shelf just waiting to become a chopper. :) Ill post some pics when I have my layout sketches drawn...
