Extended handle on BK14/24?

I recently was looking for a small EDC knife. As a guy with large hands I was drawn to the Esee Izula II due to the 1/2" longer handle, and now that I have it in hand, i am really glad i bought it. It is super comfortable.

I had been sorely tempted by the BK14/24 because of the longer blade, and am still tempted, but I feel like the shorter Izula 1 handle would not fit my hand as well, since the Izula II is the minimum of "just right" for me. Especially with the longer blade (relative to the Izula) I'd want the extra bit of handle to give me the grip and control i would want.

I was wondering, does anyone know if there is a plan to adapt the handle of the bk14/24 to the longer Izula II handle profile? I feel like with the great length handle, and the slightly longer blade, it would be an absolutely ideal knife. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I haven't seen any but you could make custom scales that extend a bit past the end of the bk14

Any of the shorter beckers can have scales made to fit, as long as you would like too. Take a look in the scale modification thread I bumped earlier, there are some. I think I saw one within the last 5 pages.

Glad this topic was raised--I have a 14 and the handle just isn't sufficient. I'll look into that.

EDITED: It's at post 150 on page 8

Just putting this out there, that "half inch of handle" would put you in the tweener range. You might just want to get a 16 and call it done.

I do have a 16.

Here in CT, I can carry a fixed blade of "less than 4 inches." The 16 is a hair too long, but the 14/24 are just right. Besides, the small blade, is nice. Also, feeling handle of my Izula II and comparing it to the 16, the 16 just has a larger footprint. It would be easy to carry and just a perfect EDC kind of size for someone who wants a little more blade than the little ESEE has to offer.

Hate to say it, but Esee 3?

Unless you can make the scales yourself, by the time you buy them you could probably just buy an Esee 3.

I've also seen someone who took a dremel and ground into the finger guard area at the front of the handle to get more length but not making the knife any longer overall.

Tommythewho- that is really beautiful. I'm always impressed when i see examples of your work!

@tommythewho that is incredibly unfair! I would buy one today, yesterday was my bday in fact and I almost bought 24 on my24th lol

It's very tempting. I actually would likely go with the ESEE Camp Lore JG3, as it's got a handle shape that tends to fit my hand better than the flatter slab designs. But I really love Becker's designs and if there was a way to get 0.5" longer handle of the Izula 2, without having to just use longer scales, I'd be all over that.

C'est la vie. I guess we all have that dream knife that doesn't exist that we think would be perfect.

I wished they would've put the Izzy II handle on the BK14/24, but it wasn't around at during the combining of the BK11 and ESEE Izula, so I guess it's up to custom scales or reshaping the blade/guard area.
