Extending the tang

Hello guys, i have ordered a 25cm long k720 (O2) steel blank to make my hidden tang bowie knife, now the problem is, the blade is going to be about 16cm, leaving 9 cm for a handle. I wanted to try and do a pommel nut, but the tang isnt gonna be long as it needs to be, so can i just weld together same piece of k720 after heat treat to achieve the longer tang without making a weak spot? If you know what i mean. Thanks.

Oh and btw the knife will be held by epoxy glue not by the pommel nut alone, its more for looks.

Weld a bolt on the tang and then it can be a tension fit to be stronger.

I'd TIG weld it using cooling bars. The effected area won't be over an inch. Won't weaken anything either. Using 309l for a stainless bead.

I've done quite a few keyhole style, especially if I don't want to use more expensive damascus than necessary.
