what is your opinion on the kershaw external toggle (ET)? im considering getting one and want some opinions

I would suggest that you handle one before you buy if you can. I have one and I find it kind of awkward to use and hard to open with one hand. That said there isn't much out there like it and the fit and finish is great. If, as your screen name suggests, you are into balis you will no doubt have better luck mastering it than I did.

ive played around with it some and, once you get the hang of it, its pretty fun, but i wanted to see if anyone has had any trouble, the frame just seems rather delicate (lots of moving parts). has anyone else checked this knife out?

The ET is great. It sit low in the pocket but can feel bulky depending on the size of your pockets. It is unique because of all the different ways you can open it. The caribiner like clip can is useful since you clip it to your back pack but make sure the blade lock is on. The clip will also double up as a bottle opener.

Its a cool knife. I work on into my edc rotation every once in a while. It is super easy to operate with one hand, once you get the hang of it. The low ride clip is nice, and I also like to clip it to my belt loop with the caribiner clip.

I tried one out at Blade and had to quickly find a band-aid. It's sharp and also awkward to handle. I decided to go with the Lahar.

Easy to open, one handed... But closing it one-handed will, well let's just say that you should buy stock in band-aids before you buy an ET... It's a pretty cool knife, though a little exotic for me to EDC it, (not to mention the whole band-aid thing...) :)

I really like mine, and have been using it for an EDC. I find it easy to open and close quickly. I nicked myself a couple of times when I first got it, but now flipping it open and closed is second nature. I like the low ride clip, and the blade lock. I think it lays pretty flat in my pocket. Also, you can use the blade clip to wave it open on your pocket, or as a bottle opener. So I pretty much love it!

Edited to add-- I have mine scary sharp, and it holds a great edge.

I had one for awhile but sold it this year. Very easy to learn one handed open and close. As much as I liked it (and would have another) my only gripes were A) tough to get in and out of a back pants pocket due to the small, awkwardly placed clip (I know, where else COULD they put it?) and B)the caribiner hanging up on the pocket seam. Just not a smooth mover in and out.
I spoke w/Thomas at the factory sale last year and we talked at length about
whether or not this could be released with a different blade config. without the caribiner. He told me that G & G Hawk were pretty adamant about the point of having that feature on this knife. So much so that their position was, in Thomas' opinion, no caribiner, no Kershaw production of this design. What're ya gonna do?

Looks better then my pinky did the 1st day I had mine.
Cool knife, just keep working with it.....you'll get better before
you lose your finger. ;)

Just put your finger on the corner of the pocket clip when you're toggling, and that will keep you out of harm's way!
