Extra long Grommets needed for sheath? Or work around solution.

I just finished up my second attempt at a sheath and was originally looking to add metal grommets in the corners and tip. But the problem is finding some with a longer post. They probably need to be close 3/4 inch. I've tried searching for some, but had no luck.

In the case I can't find any, I was thinking I could just use standard length grommets and add them to a couple layers at a time, so the finished product looks like they are all one piece. What leather tool would I use to create a small divot in the leather, so the grommet post lays slightly embedded in the leather for a smooth transition when glued to another piece of leather. I have a safety skiver, but cant get a good circular indent. Any ideas?

I want to say the tool is called a French Skiver, but I could be wrong. In any case it looked like a large edge beveling tool, so if you have a set of bevelers you may be able to use one of them to make a countersunk hole.

You can also use a pointy exacto blade or the point of a roundknife.
