They're called a "Banana Trapper" like the one in the photo.

Nice one, in a Cripple Creek of course!! I have come to expect no less, Greg! Is there a pattern you don't have in CC  ?? :D

I'm not picking on him sunburst, I just want him to 'fess up!!

Can't help ya there 'cause I don't know. Never thought about it much. I haven't counted how many I have, tho it's quite a few, and never cataloged the patterns, handle material, shields and so on. I keep them well protected and sometimes I won't open some rolls for a year or 2. I just photograph them and put 'em back. I know which ones I have, for the most part, so I don't get more duplicates unless I need to complete a set or if it is a rare and exceptionally nice piece.

Nice one Greg !....I forgot about the Banana Jack pattern. Does/has anyone
carry/carried one. I imagine those long, slim blades would be very efficient slicers. You gents in the "know"...fill us in on the Banana Jack.

Thats a nice collection of deer skinning knives. Or maybe I'm the only one that wants one for that...

Google has shown me a Remington and this "What did the old banana trapper sell at the trading post? *Banana skins and peelts."

Thanks for getting me started. I'll keep at it.

Those are fantastic Greg, you sure collect some beauties...What can you tell me about the bottom knife with the bear shield and it's significance...?

I have a Schatt & Morgan with the same shield..

As far as I know, the Bear Shield is what the AMKCA uses for their club knives. I doubt that they have the exclusive right to it but it is a nice touch.
That would be a good one to research. "The origin of the Bear Shield". It may have been around for quite some time. Nice S & M !! Banana skins and Peelts. Good one Urb.

This is Mr. Bose's rendition of the Remington pattern. By the way Urb, welcome to Bladeforums. Ya oughta stick around.
