The typical day thread led to a nice nap j/k ;) How about some unforeseen instances where you needed a knife, one of those 'better to have and not need' situations? Something where the knife prevented/aided in dealing with injury, property damage, or similar. Also, instances where you needed a locking blade instead of a slipjoint, a thick blade instead of a thin one, a fixed blade instead of a folder, super steel instead of lower and mid-priced, etc.

I can think of a few instances where my sak or leatherman saved me from being stranded on the road in a crappy car. Now I only drive Toyotas.

I had just recently began leaving my knive in my pocket rather than leaving it in the car in my church parking lot. This one Sunday my wife and I had daycare duty and we were on the playground with the kids. A little girl got here frirly sock hung up in this bicycle merrygoround thing and it had here ankle pinned against the peddle. Me having my knife saved here a couple of more minutes of bruising time on her ankle, the time it would have taken for one of us to located a pair of scissors. I'm also not convinced that scissors would have been the right tool to cut her sock loose.

It was a black Native, and I felt concientious about pulling out a black beefy pocket knife at church. It was kinda cool that a fellow mom held in there firm holding the girls leg even after I lightly gigged her(the other mom) on the back of the hand. I was very nervous about the possibility of cutting the girl, and I managed to poke the mom that was helping me. No blood though thank goodness.
