Hi all,
I had an idea bouncing around my head to write a fun article, probably for EDC Magazine, about the extravagant descriptions you sometimes run across on gear.

I think it will kinda be a humorous "Can you tell which is which", and I'll do knives, pens, and maybe some other high-end type of gear (ideas welcome).
For example, which is a knife, and which is a pen?

A sleekly sculpted essay in the cosmopolitan, {item} spans wondrous continents of choice in form and finish, from metallic to marbled to the elegance of stainless steel. Offering a glittering perspective on the synergies of professionalism and pleasure, {item} lights the select path whose destination is sterling value and sumptuous style.

It’s magic. Bending lines and smooth surfaces converge to shape this contemporary {cutting/writing} tool. Don’t let its size fool you, the profile is well done and offers good grip control. The stabilized real wood handle scales give a solid pulse to the {item}. Favor it for the dynamic looks. Gratify in its practical utility.

So I'm here to ask for tips- where have you come across outrageous descriptions?
Write-ups so fancy that you can hardly tell the writer is talking about a knife?
Seen any highfalutin' ads that make you shake your head in confusion?
Point me to 'em, and I'll put 'em all together and we'll have a good laugh.

Thanks in advance!

I am totally stealing your description next time I want to sell something, even if it doesn't match the discription.

Well, if I see an ad for a life insurance policy that starts out "A sleekly sculpted essay in the cosmopolitan" ... I'll know who to look for! :D

Well, the first thing that popped to my mind was that I've seen stuff like that on the Benchmade catalogs/website for some of their knives in the past. Their site now has bullet points about the knives rather than descriptive paragraphs. I'll see if I can dig up last year's catalog.
