Does anybody else think that the Dark ops stratofighter is just a ripoff of the Fulcrum IID? I a bit confused, because I've heard that the stratofighter is a good knife, and I 've also heard that the fulcrum is a bad one

Do a search newb. If you can't search, cough up a few $ and contribute to this fine site. Then... you can do your search. Cliff notes version... Dork Ops is a flagrant rip-off of Extrema Ratio.

Extrema Ratio make some strange knives, but they are all high-quality. Dark Ops (search Dork Ops) is run by a former ER representative who totally ripped off ER for designs and probably knives/parts as well.

As a European company, ER felt it would be too expensive to bother going after DO, since their core business was in Europe anyway.

Dark Ops is not real popular around here, so the quality of the knives themselves isn't even of interest, especially since Extrema Ratio are as good as knives get.

DOK must suffer from severe personality problems by now.
It's marketing literature has made it an infamous knife-like novelty which has resulted in DOK being treated as something of a fantasy-knife amongst serious knife aficionados.
Which is all rather unfortunate, for no matter how good a knife it can lay claim to be, this is one company which has entirely succeded to let it's own business reputation killed nothing but itself.
Or it could be that the world is just not entirely ready to accept a design taste preference some light years ahead of it's time...

This type of response is unnecessarily hostile and unhelpful. You might as well have written, "STFU, N00B! Dork Ops is teh SUX0R!"

I own a Fulcum IID and its one heck of knife. Sharpeness is unusual due to its very thick angle on the blade. You could defintaly beat the heck out of it but for detail work with a sharp blade it would not excel at all.

Here we go again with the ER/Dark Ops threads...

The Extrema Ratio models are widespread believed to be the par and the standard, whereas Dark Ops are what some might call (when speaking politely) unfaithful, unlicensed copies of the Italian-sourced designs. Putting it gently, Dark Ops are commonly called "Dork Ops" here on the forums and are criticized fanatically and deeply.

Yes Phil, it is. I apologize to the OP for my tone, but not content. When I posted, I was experiencing one of my "Ball-pein hammer" days... I have no filter for my anger and hostility when that happens. And yes, "Dork Ops is teh SUXOR" whatever that means.

Tell me Phil, does this mean YOU have turned over a new leaf, and will only post "Rosey/syrupy sweet/I love you you love me" kinda responses?;):D

No, I don't think so, I think it means he just likes a tougher target than kicking puppies out of his way. :p

Oh come Esav, we've all seen PHil kick a puppy (new user).

I have to admit though, with a name like the OP's and a question like this post, Mongo's response was almost a knee-jerk.

No offence intended to the OP, you just accidently pushed a couple of buttons.

actually the stratofighter is a copy (about an exact copy too FWIW) of the nemisis not the fulcrum, and the nemisis and fulcrum are both excellent knives too, the 1 dork ops i have seen was actually pretty good but i have heard that they do vary some in F&F.

but all the ER stuff is excellent i have never heard a bad thing about them.

Extrema Ratio Are IMHO, Some of the Toughest sharpest Military type knife out there. And they do have some strange designs. But all still well made. and some Like the COL. Moshin, Or Doberman, I'd actually call sexy. I just like them. I like the way their steel behaves too.

Dark, Dork Ops are exactly what Esav said. Long story shot and exactly right.

Who said the Folcrum sucked? One of the toughest knives money can buy. All ER folders Are. Some might not like the look ect. but they are a Great Italian Company with great products. I find Lot of things, if not everything "Made In Italy" seems to Be great. Like Berretta, Ray-ban Sunglasses, Foods, Olive oil. Cars. Women:D ect.... think about it. every time you've seen something "Made In Italy" was it a good product?
