Hi All,
I'm looking into buying a large folder in the future, I've asked about the buck strider spear point and got a lot of info on the forum. Has anybody tried the Extrema Ratio folders? I'm italian and I should rave about them for national pride but, I'm under the impression that they are definitely overpriced (in Italy as well). I like though their design and their locking system (lock back + cross bolt) seems quite clever. Also I've seen the Harsey Tactical folder on the Lone Wolf web site, which I like a lot. Has anyone ever handled one of these?

fausto nasafiaschi:

I have an MPC on order right now. They are expensive, but I lie the idea of the lockback and crossbolt, though I may not use the crossbolt much.

I've debated as to whether to get one or not for about a month, ordered one Friday.
Should be here sometime end of this coming week.

Another thing I like about this knife is it can be made left handed with the reversible clip. Thats where it is going, on the left pocket. The SnG has found a permanent home on my strong side, but I think the MPC will compliment the SnG carry nicely.

I get them at dealer cost so the price is reasonable for me.

You have to decide what is worth to you.
I have heard favorable opinions on all knives that you mentioned.

brownie,

I'd *_love_* to hear your thoughts on the ER folder after you've received it.

Despite the cost, I've been eying the Nemesis due to her long lines.

It's lust, just as I lust after Ferraris.

:)

My only worry happens, strangely, to be the warranty.

Although I seriously doubt that I will ever put the knife to harsh use, I am accustomed, if you will, in being a die-hard Striderite (one Tactical AR, one first-gen SnG, one AR on the way and going to be realized as a Toxic Embryo) to their no-bull warranty. As folders billing themselves as the ultimate users, I feel that this is critical....that if I am willing to spend this much to get such a level of durability, then the guys making the blade should be willing to stand up for their work without an "escape clause" in their warranty.

I would thus most sincerely appreciate your most honest, most pragmatic, and most unbiased observations/comparisons of your incoming ER to your SnG.

:)

Thanks!

I'll carry the ER MPC for a week and let you know my intial impressions.

I really don't think it will replace the strider SnG but it should compliment it if it is as durable as they advertise.

My initial concerns will be the difficulty or not in sharpening the blade of cobalt alloy.

Thanks everybody,
I second Allen, it would be great to have some first hand impressions and an unbiased comparison between them.

we have been handling the Extrema Ratio's for awhile and they are made like a tank! Good Stuff! Paul

Thanks Paul,
I'm feeling better about ordering the knife already.

Questions:

weight?
How sharp are they from the factor?
What do you think of the aluminum handle?
Width in pocket, too bulky?

Thanks

I have a couple of ER knives; one being the M.P.C. I can't say enough about the knife, nor the man that backs the company. The blade is thick, but had a wicked edge and holds it well. I've chopped, diced, sliced and even the big no-no -- pried stuff with it.

It doesn't look any worse for wear, even the aluminum handle (you know how loose change can make mush out of any handle.)

For as big as the thing is, the M.P.C. rides in the pants well. I usually don't wear big folders to work because I wear slacks, but the ER rides low and discreet; even in slacks.

As far as Frank goes, you won't find a better man to deal with. He will go out of his way to make you happy. A very personal company.

Anywho, that's my .02. I got one, and I like it. :D

Brownster dude, here's the specs: 8.5 ounces for MPC. Aluminum handle is OK, nice and comfortable for me. I adapt well. Rides exceptionally well in pocket. Sharpness? at MBC in Ohio, I offered mine to Mike Janich while doing testing cutting into an unroasted pork on a wooden dowel. After cutting with it, Mike sort of looked at the knife with thoughful consideration, which I took as thinking, "holy cow, I didn't think this knife could do that! " - which btw - your buddy Mike Sastre was there during this enjoyable event.

Boink:

I'm looking more forward for the delivery later in the week every minute.:D

Thanks for the specs and related event.
