Yesterday I offered myself a new knife (Santa forget to give me one..)
And the winner is….
Extrema ratio BF1 CD:
Basically it’s the new ER line, a small compact folder (BF stand for Basic Folder!).
It’s quite small compared to their other model, quite light also (85 g);
To give you an idea, it’s more or less size of a small sebie.
Liner lock, and it does an impressive “KLANG” when opening.
I choose mine “drop point” (but Tanto is also available).
Blade is N690 steel (I heard that it’s more or less 440C) and handle is kinda aluminum.

I have taken that model first because it’s not expensive for a ER knife (I pay for mine 119 euro in Parisian shop, you could probably find it around 100 US$ over the net) and I was willing to have a ER for quite a long time now, and secondly because it’s the size of knife I start to appreciate now (+ I like drop point blade).
If you look over the net, you’ll see that there is various model :
1) drop point/tanto,
2) tactical / classic handle
3) liner lock/ double lock (liner lock plus another strange security)
4) large knife and small knife

mine is small drop point classic simple liner !(see bellow close to Burger exka)

just a small update concerning N690 steel.
I sharpen it and i find it slightly better than 440C but not as good as VG-10.

last pic!:D
(sorry for quality!)

Better in what way?
Does it take a finer edge? Does it take an edge more easily? Or does it hold it longer?

What knives did you compare?

Thanks, I mean Merci.

I'm glad to see ER branching out. They do nice work, and it's good to have them do it in an EDC format.

I still have my Nemesis. I like it, a lot, but it's not convenient for carrying all the time. Only when I need to be smashing things. :)

I compare it to my Benchmades in 440C (and my Burger), and my Mcustas and Spydercos in VG10.
I find it easier in a way that ...it take an edge quite easely, and i am under the impression that it's slightly thinner than 440C...
But as it is not "exactelly" the same blade, and thermical treatment could also vary, my impression are just... impression :=)

BF2 is the one with the additional strange lock, is'nt it?
How is it working?
my BF1 liner lock, i find it already much sufficient...
What do you think about the blade and its cutting abilities?
i found it quite good personnaly !:D
