Hi all I got myself one of these Extrema Ratio DMP drop points, (more to come as the days go on as I'll be taking it away into some choice wilderness shortly-like as in the next several hours when i can get off the keyboard); LOL as the initials suggest. I think now ER is listening to many about bringing out a basic drop point but still keeping in line with their military standards/designs. It's a 6mm thick spine, I guess some will love that and also some will say it's too thick and maybe 5mm would have been better? i figure they are erring on the "military tough" side of things, remembering they are not in the business of making outdoor knives per se, unless one takes into account the recent Sethlans. Just saying.........

Its a good looking blade and N690 is solid stuff provided they dont flub the heat treat!!! Which.they have done on occasion too!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing and reading your thoughts!!!

Hi there, thanks, yeah well it's not too bad on cutting up chunks of meat for a 6mm/0.24" thick full flat, better to have 5mm and thinner but it isn't 5mm and that's that. Ok more to come as time goes by on this new model. As for the heat treating I think they have this done by another company, although don't quote me on that :)!

So just a few more pics here from about 4 days out with the Extrema Ratio DMP. Ok so I used it fo basic camp stuff, some splitting of sawn beech logs I cut with my Silky Pocket boy (it was seasoned wood from a big 6' or so diameter tree (fallen) near he camp site. Also just cutting herbs like wild mint, lots of cutting up meat off the bone both before cooking and after. preparing a stew with it too with the left over bones etc, so I was cutting stuff on a small bamboo cutting board (can be quite abrasive). Used it to cut up garlic cloves, cut and gather wild Thyme (for tea). hacked off a few small green hazel and pine branches just to see how it felt to swing it. All in all, i'd go as far as to say i'd take it hunting. The caveat is that it is a military knife in that everything has been designed around compact carrying, ie the adjustable leg loop is not really meant to be removed because itis useful to the soldier and it can of course be useful to the hunter to stop it moving all over if stalking and crawling. Sometimes, i just wrapped the leg loop around the scabbard when i didn't want it on my leg. I use krabs to take it on and off quickly, rosing rivers etc, for safety.

The scabbard is very easy to clean too, just dunk the whole thing in the water and shake about.

I definitely like the looks of the blade and their sheathes are pretty solid too!!
Thanx for sharing your thoughts!
