Has anyone used an Extrema Ratio folder for tasks for which you would not use a quality strong folder. Significant prying, wedging or spine impacts? Do they come in plain edge or all just partially serrated?

The Nemesis and MPC (MultiPurpose Combat) are the identical large folders with the Nemesis having a narrow plain edge blade and the MPC a wider partially serrated blade.

I have pried plywood slats off a crate and chopped thornbush branches off with mine. You can spine whack it with no problem -- just spine-SMASHED it to check again -- hard enough to hammer in nails. Not really smart to hammer nails with the blade, though. The triangular butt piece is better for that.

I'd say it's at least as tough as my Strider SnG, but it's obviously not as clean a slicer.

Thanks I would want something significantly more secure than the Strider folders as I would assume they have problems with torques based on what Mick said in responce to the failure of the Buck/Strider folder I had awhile back.

I think my ER M.P.C. is the heaviest sturdiest folder that I have. But I prefer my Striders. The ER is too heavy, it is simply a monster. I love the ER but I don't carry something as heavy as that day-to-day so the SnG and SMF fit the bill better for me as an EDC. If I was a first responder I would probably go for the ER.

Okay, it appears that ER folders are very heavy duty. What is the fit and finish like? I know, they are military folders, not Seb's, but at these prices, I would still consider F & F important, what about blade play and centering? I know these aren't as important in a mid lock as they are in a liner/frame lock, but just would like to know. Thanks.

Reliability of the lock is very high with no problem of torquing for sure if you push the cross-bolt safety on. This can lock it closed, too, if you want to worry about opening in transit.

F & F is excellent, much better than Strider, although I wasn't put off by cosmetic factors on my Striders. The ERs are precision made, close tolerances, and have NO blade play. I found a slight up/down movement that disappeared by tightening the pivot to a reasonable degree, that is, the blade will still drop down freely to close when I release the lock.

Thanks Esav, I appreciate the prompt reply. Sounds like a very interesting knife.
