Yesterday I got this Extrema Ratio Harpoon from ExtremeKnives. AWSOME somehow just does not tell it all until you have held it in your hand. My wife who normally does not like big knives really likes this one. The price is outstanding also since this model is going to be discontinued...TOO BAD!
I think they still have a few left at $179.00....now that is a good price!

I bought it to sell but now that I have held it in my hand I think it is a keeper!

I like it. Is that velcoro on the handle?

Siggyhk,
No, that is not velcro on the handle but it does have some kind of hook material and I noticed that the velcro hook will stick to it if you press hard. Whatever it is it sure is comfortable.
Like I said....its an AWSOME knife.

For those of you that are interested, I know non Velcro handles were available at one time.

I have the Extrema Ratio Shrapnel, i think that E.R. knives are very high quality . I don't think you'll be dissapointed with your purchase....nice score.

english mark,
Yes, you are correct, they are very high quality. I too have the E.R. Shrapnel and it's a small knife that thinks its a big knife. Makes a great EDC too.
Actually this is my 3rd. Extrema Ratio. I have the Col Moschen, the Shrapnel, and now the Harpoon. It's too bad they are discontinuing the Harpoon!

I have a Extrema Ratio Nemesis folder...It has a tank like feel.

Some points:
1) The thumb stud is a little too small. After applying Chris Reeve
grease and toughening up the old thumb it getting a bit easier to open
but I would not like to trying opening the rascal 20 times in a row.

2) The lock release is more of a cheese grater than anything else. It
takes a lot of force to free the blade. There will be no accidental openings
by gripping the handle...I need a lot of pressure with both thumbs
to release the lock. In order to prevent turning your thumb into chopped
liver I recommend that you use a lanyard and cover the release with
the lanyard prior to appying pressure.

3) I also recommend pointing the tip down a bit when releasing the lock.
This will prevent the (heavy) blade from swinging around and catching
a finger ( I have a wound to prove the point...).

The nemesis is slightly shorter than a MicroTech CF0 2.

I built the lanyard from a black boot lace.

I sorta like the rascal even with the shortcomings....

Thanks Gray Fox! Sounds like alot of messing around to open your blade. Is this a newer disign or can I expect easier opening from other models?
