Hey guys, just bought a ER MPC and wondered if anyone had defeated this knife yet :D or is it still considered the same "tank" everyone seemed to think it was when it first came out ? Any new updates on the company ? Any new opinions on EDC or any info. would be appeciated.
I just got mine to look at and keep  I just can not bring myself to sharpen or scratch it in any way, I know, this is silly, but I have a problem with high dollar type knives, I just can't seem to use them, But look at the bright side, if I ever get tired of it, and decide to pass it along to my buddies, it will still be like new ! :D

Be my buddy! :D

I've got a Nemesis, and it's seen some use, got sharpened, some scratches on the flats of the blade. It is a good big tough knife, probably as good at smashes things as cutting them, and it cuts very well.

I gave my MPC to a well driller who is as hard on knives as my contractor George is, maybe more so.

He has beat the snot out of that knife [ I get to see it almost every week at the club to resharpen it for him ].

He has cut pvc piping up to 1 1/2" in diameter, pounded the handle onto frozen pvc to get the flow moving in the cold, punch through a few 55 gallon drums to get them open, and a few other nasties I can't think of at the moment.

The pivot has needed tightening ocassionally, he has loctited the passive safety open as it engages when he is abusing the knife [ pounding on it ]which he doesn't like, the edge seems to hold up to quite a bit of use during the week and has had to be reprofiled several times before sharpening.

Overall, he likes the knife, hasn't been able to break it and uses the hell out of it. Normal folders like spyders, emersons, cold steels don't last a month with him, the MPC has been going strong for 5 months now.

Hope that helps

Oh man, what a horror story ! , The first answer and the blade scratches :D , I don't remember much about the well driller story, as I may have passed out ! :o
Well I guess thats just what I needed, but I am not sure if I can take any more of these kinds of stories, the scratches were bad enough ! :D

At least I know if I lose my mind, and decide to do some of these things to me ER, it will take whatever I can dish out, and losing my mind for me would be cutting paper, plastic, or string  . I don't think so.....

His MPC has held much of the finish on the knife. Scratches? Oh yes, and he's just happy he hasn't had to buy another knife for awhile.

When I owned it, I was confident I could have cut my way out of a rail car or at least use the glass breaker end for extrication of a cars occupants [ including myself or others ], and with the passive locked engaged it is close to a straight knife in strength.

Is it a tank? It sure acts like it. I wouldn't hesitate to use it all you want.

Cool ! Super cool, and Great ! Great review Atlasfield, Thanks, and thanks Brownie for the great story, there is no doubt this knife is a tank, at least it is apparently made like one.
I have been trying to talk myself into maybe carrying it, and then maybe I could cut something with it, like paper  , and then plastic, who knows, in a week or two I might even try some cardboard  .

Naw ! I changed my mind, this one will be a "Recliner Tactical"..... :D
