I saw an ad in Tactical Knives about Extrema Ratio. Surfed to their web page. Some of their knives seems interesting. Does anyone know if they are good knives?

If it's Wilkins (as I think) out of Berlin, Germany, they are indeed well designed & executed knives, constructed of good materials.
With the USD as high as it is againt the DM right now, they should be a decent value as well.

That's what I originally thought, but, if you hit their website, it's two guys out of Italy. I asked the question in ShopTalk about the N-690 steel, it is a Swedish version (sort of) of 440C, but with cobalt.

Prices are listed in Lira and in Euro's, current exchange rate would put these prices from $135 to $347. The whole shoulder harness and carrying case thing for some of their knives had me wondering at first as to their quality.

i'd buy them just based on the intro extremaratio

I think that you should buy them and tell us all about them.

i think they are awesome

N690 vs ATS-34
Carbon 1.07 1.05
Chromium 17.00 14.00
Cobalt 1.50
Copper
Manganese 0.40 0.40
Molybdenum 1.10 4.00
Nickel
Phosphorus 0.03
Silicon 0.40 0.35
Sulfur 0.02
Tungsten
Vanadium 0.10

from this break down of the steel alloys i would guess that N690 would be suppirior to ATS-34, since it has higher chromium (more stainless) higher levels of carbon (harder) and has the addiction of cobalt (think talonite)

That intro is VERY cool, I have to talk to Mr. Doggett about one of them for my site :)

It seems that the entire knife is CNC milled. Not just the profile but also the main and top "grind". None of the blades seem to have any curve except at the point. I'm sure this must be blended in on a belt grinder.
The construction is also unique. Some of them us the standard factory method of molding the handle over the tangs. Others look like it's attached by hand during assembly on a rather odd looking tang??

The blade material sounds interesting also.

Gotta go play that intro again
