Hi. A while ago I inquired about Extrema Ratio Knives, for sale and finally back in stock at www.target-masters.net

Just curious if anyone here has gotten one recently, and if so, how you like it. I know Bimmer1 got one. Would you mind telling me again your opinion of it?

Thanks!

Hi Dr.Jones

Just wanted to let you know that since you're interested in E.R. knives that the current issue of Tactical Knives magazine has a good sized article on the T2000 and the Harpoon F by John A. Larsen. He talks about the steel and the sheath options, and from what I read his only complaints were that the blade had to little steel at the tip,the abrasivness of the handle, and the lack of a lanyard hole. Thats easy to fix thanks to the striking point at the base of the pommel. Just drill it and insert your favorite cord. About the tip problem he brings that up because of what happened when he went at stabing the T2000 into a 2x4. He says, "Stabbing the T2000 into a 2x4 on my workbench, I gouged out a hole with no problem until I hit a nailcoming up through the other side. When I snapped the blade to the right I broke about 1/32 of an inch of the tip of the blade." He was able to restore the edge and the gave a good recommendation to anyone looking for a good tactile knife.

As far as my opinions on the Extema Ratio(loosly traslated meaning Extreme Measures) knives, having not held one puts me at a bit of a disadvantage, but I still want one. They look to have a good balance to them. I really like the gold finish option too. It makes me want to buy two of each the first in the black finish for acual work and then build a display case for the gold ones. What thats only $2000-2500 right thats not too bad. LOL.

Well hope I was able to help and just in case you don't have the E.R. web site here it is www.extremaratio.com

The Extrema Ratio knives look nice, and if the review is to be believed, are well made. That being said, I think the handles look square and insecure. This is just my perception from the pictures I have seen, I could be completely wrong.

It is going to be one of their new models

They now have Lanyard holes.

And the handles have been redesigned.

The handle has been criticized by most knife fighting experts here in Italy, moreover it's not the only unsafe thing in the knife. The sheath is also pretty unsafe, for it's open for 2/3 on one side allegedly to allow a faster draw, while actually you just risk to impale your hand when sheathing the knife.

To clear up the incomplete information in the previous post. The K1 Doberman is the knife in discussion. There is no correllation between the K1 Doberman and the rest of Extrema Ratio product line as ther handles, sheaths, and blade design are completely diffferent.

Got to play with them in person for the first time at Blade Show this past weekend. While one sharpened prybar "tactical" knife is much the same as another in my book, the Extrema Ratio knives do have the "Italian looks industrial design edge". They look like the issue knives for the U.S. Colonial Marines from Aliens; that's gotta be worth something. ;)
