Yesterday was like Christmas for me. By some little quirk of fate I just happened to receive my Wicked Edge Sharpener, a Seiko Orange Monster watch and my Hinderer Extreme Duty pen all on the same day!

Needless to say, I'm very happy with all my new toys, but let's focus on the pen.

This thing rocks! It is so well designed that there is only one thing I would do differently if I had any say in the design - More on that in a minute though.

I had an Investigator pen prior to this one and while I loved the looks, the fit and finish and overall quality, the size just didn't do it for me. Writing with it for any extended period of time was very uncomfortable for me. No such problems with this beast. The size is perfect for extended writing sessions and it fits fine in the pen compartment of my uniform shirt pocket.

Plenty has already been said about the fisher pen refills so I wont go into that. Everyone know's by now that this thing will write up-side down and right-side up and any other which way you care to hold it. The only thing I don't like about the ED pen is a purely cosmetic nit-pick: the silver colored nib.

The rest of the pen is an awesome dark green colored, aircraft grade aluminum but the silver colored nib just looks out of place to my eye. It was an easy fix though. I took it off, taped up the threads with painter's tape then lightly dusted it with a can of olive drab camo paint. To finish it off I added some O -rings from the local hardware store and the rest is history.

Personally I think it looks great, but you be the judge. Here are some pics, let me know what you think.

Thanks to Rick and Rob and all the fine folks at the Ranch for another kick-ass product!

I like your fix, I may consider one of these, right now I use the Surefire pen at work.
How do you like the watch? Any pics?

Thanks Darrin. The watch went to the jeweler's to get the bracelet resized. She had a little trouble with it and had to send it to an official Sako dealer she knows out of town. Apparently they make a special tool for doing it properly. I should have it back next week.

They are very nice watches and very reasonably priced. I'm sure you'll see it hanging around in the background every now and then whenever I post pics from here on out.

Your mention in the thread caught my attention, and the internet reviews are all very positive.Seems to me like you made a good investment.
I'm just waiting till the new year to get my hands on a XM-24, the XM-18 is the work and EDC now.
Let me know if you find a "deal" on Fisher pen refills? I use them in my Surefire, and I'm sure in the New Year I'll be using them in the ED, :) LOL
Cheers

The refills are already pretty darn cheap. $5.00 bucks or so if I remember correctly. Not sure you can do much better than that considering the fact that they last forever it seems.

On another forum, Rick hinted that a clicky type Hinderer pen may be in the works for sometime in the future. Judging from the reaction he got, that would be a very popular item. I suggested that perhaps a pen that would accept G~2 refills might be a good thing. They are cheap, readily available to virtually everyone, and wildly popular in the LE community because they work great. I actually prefer their "feel" to the Fisher. Here's hoping he considers it.

Now you have embarrassed me for being "cheap" LOL, I thought that 5 bucks a refill was pricey?
Your right though they do seem to last forever, I've had one in my Surefire at work for what seems like forever! :)

Congrats on the pen!

I have the same green one as well. Does the ano on your cap seem to be a darker green color than the rest of the pen?

The cap on mine has a much darker shade of green the the pen's body. I was wondering what's the reason behind this.

Nice pen! Great green color to it.

Loving the top shot, knife, pen and watch, the trifecta of good things for me.

Enjoy it in the best!

Thanks guys. I've been enjoying it very much.

As far as the difference in color goes, I think it's probably just a product of the annodizing process. I imagine if the cap and barrel were done on different days; or maybe if there were even slight differences in the aluminum, it could probably produce different shades in the same color.

BP what sharpener did you get the basic or the Pro pack? I see they are offering 20% off. I may have to pull the trigger on one of these?
Reviews seem to be very good so far?

Darrin,

I got the works. I only received a partial order though. I'm still waiting for the 1200~1600 stones. I'm actually about to go try it out so I need to go. :)

Go forth my brother and sharpen, let me know what you think and how it goes. I'm looking at the "whole 9 yards as well" LOL
Cheers

Nice review sir, I'm gonna get one too as soon as I can get the money past my wife :) I'm still liking my investigator but I think I need this one too. I think a clicky would be WAY high on my list. I think Rick and Rob are evil ;) They keep coming up with stuff to buy.
Also I think we have similar toys...My watch at work:

My knives and pens unfortunately have taken a back seat to my Remington SPS Tactical build (I'm at the scope stage now).

Lol. . . I should have known. Great minds and all that. . . :p

Gorgeous watch and gorgeous pics as always Jason!
