Yesterday was like Christmas for me. By some little quirk of fate I just happened to receive my Wicked Edge Sharpener, a Seiko Orange Monster watch and my Hinderer Extreme Duty pen all on the same day!
Needless to say, I'm very happy with all my new toys, but let's focus on the pen.
This thing rocks! It is so well designed that there is only one thing I would do differently if I had any say in the design - More on that in a minute though.
I had an Investigator pen prior to this one and while I loved the looks, the fit and finish and overall quality, the size just didn't do it for me. Writing with it for any extended period of time was very uncomfortable for me. No such problems with this beast. The size is perfect for extended writing sessions and it fits fine in the pen compartment of my uniform shirt pocket.
Plenty has already been said about the fisher pen refills so I wont go into that. Everyone know's by now that this thing will write up-side down and right-side up and any other which way you care to hold it. The only thing I don't like about the ED pen is a purely cosmetic nit-pick: the silver colored nib.
The rest of the pen is an awesome dark green colored, aircraft grade aluminum but the silver colored nib just looks out of place to my eye. It was an easy fix though. I took it off, taped up the threads with painter's tape then lightly dusted it with a can of olive drab camo paint. To finish it off I added some O -rings from the local hardware store and the rest is history.
Personally I think it looks great, but you be the judge. Here are some pics, let me know what you think.
Thanks to Rick and Rob and all the fine folks at the Ranch for another kick-ass product!
