Anyone catch "Extreme History" last night with Roger Daltrey? He had to learn to survive like primitive man. He made stone and bone tools, started a fire by friction, tracked a guy through the woods, built an A frame shelter, attempted to learn how to use a spear etc. It was funny as hell and nice to see some primitive skills on T.V.

I watched it, pretty good! Not a whole lot of detail, but you can't cram a lot into a half hour show.

He's a burned out rock star type dude without a decent set of ethics or brains for that matter. On a previous show, he broke an ancient Native American horn bow by drawing it while it was strung backwards, all the while the man who displayed it screamed not to do it and he did it anyways. Then gave a half hearted apology as he handed half the bow back to the man. At that point, I stopped watching the show. The bow was hundreds of years old and still in good enough shape to use. The history channel estimated it's value at a very conservative 5000.00, but the loss to the Indian people that it belonged to was priceless, as it was a one of a kind and irreplaceable part of their peoples history and craftsmanship.

They never said how old the bow was. The guy said "It's strung backwards" at the same moment he pulled it back and it broke. Guy just didn't know cr@p about bows.

I watched it yesterday and like you said
zombiehunter, It was good to see some Primitive skills at work on TV., But I have to agree with longbow50 100%!

Never, ever lay something out and let someone handle it if they do not know exactly what they are doing. I saw the show as well, and i cringed inside when he began to pull back on that bow. He seemed to laugh it off at first, but the owner was visibly distraught. I think its a 50/50 split for fault; dont let someone handle ancient articles if they dont know how, dont handle articles without getting instruction on proper techniques. I cannot believe daltrey didnt replace that bow, or offer to pay for it, or the producers. Nobody is going to let Roger touch anything again.

It television for cry'noutloud.
Didn't they rehearse that bow scene?
Ol Rodg doesn't do a whole lot. Attempts a bunch but the hired hands do the real stuff.
I was impressed with the guy's accuracy with the sling!
