I swung by WalMart today and picked up a Schrade Old Timer 104OT Minuteman. I have been wanting one of these for a while now being a fan of the Old Timer line with the carbon steel. Well, I got home and opened up the package and noticed the blade read Schrade+ 804UH. Doesn't the UH mean Uncle Henry? What gives! I was expecting carbon steel. Have they changed this knife or has it always been stainless?
Could this be a mistake? Either way, its going back!

Sorry for the gripe.

sounds like they made a mistake!! that is definitely a uncle henry blade, whats it doin there, who knows? It is an interesting piece, would it be worth anything? A little more than the average minuteman. You could keep it for collector's value, or you could return it. If it's that important to you, return it! If they will not take it back call schrade Im sure they will make it right!

Anytime you see Schrade +, it means their stainless steel. I dont know what it was doing in your Old Timer but I know that I much prefer the carbon! Good luck.

Thanks for the responses Rev and Jazzman. So, I decided to keep the supposed misprinted knife and pick up a new one. Well the the new one is correctly labeled 104OT. However, I put it in some vinegar to form patina and well nothing happened. I mean the backspring turned completely black but both blades remained as clean as it did when I first put the knife in. Does this mean the blades are stainless? If so, I am really going to be irritated. I will definately fire off an email to Schrade.

Thanks in advance,

Scott
