hey everyone,
just joined the forum about 10 minutes ago and I thought I would ask- what does everyone suggest as a nice knife that they would suggest and is not expensive (50$ max, I know not much) and wear online I could get it?
I do live in Canada so it would have to be within the law restrictions (
(a) a knife that has a blade that opens automatically by gravity or centrifugal force or by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in or attached to the handle of the knife, or
(b) any weapon, other than a firearm, that is prescribed to be a prohibited weapon)
I prefer bowies (full tang; fixed blade) and something that is longer than 7". preferably close to 10".
I really do like the Kershaw Camp 10, but every place I look for it online has a knock off picture when compared to the Kershaw website, and I don't want to take the chance of buying a nock-off.
so...... that being said- shoot away.

Kershaw makes many sub $50 knives. All are very well built.
Ontario Rat 1 is apx. $30
Best in my opinion is the Spyderco Tenacious or Persistance, both around $30.
Kershawguy also sells really nice blems. You can find him here on the forum.
Have fun and best of luck AY!

looks like BladeHQ.com is the go to site. I actually did find it and for less than any other sites I found. thanks metalhead.
any other knives to start my future collection

Welcome to the Forums. You may want to check the "Regional Communities" section, where there's a forum dedicated to Canadians. There are a lot of specific forums, including companies, sales by individuals and dealers, etc. Meanwhile, have fun here. Do a search for those knives you think you're interested in and see what turns up. Use the search engine a lot and you'll be surprised where it leads you. When you get stuck on something "specific" there are plenty of people who will help you. All the best.

No fixed blade is going to violate those laws unless it's a push dagger or a katar.

Another thing to be aware of is that pretty much all folding knives can be said to violate the "centrifugal force" law, and police will try their best to flick out the knives if you ever run into that situation. The only defence is if you say you were not aware the knife could be flicked out in that manner.

That means you should keep the pivot tight, which is why I don't like flippers that much. I prefer lockbacks to liner or frame locks because they are easier to keep tight and non-flickable while still being easily opened.

Oh, and I'm not a fan of Axis locks since they are ridiculously easy to flick open with a swing of the arm, even while tightened.

Spyderco Delica for $54.
Spyderco UKPK $40. :)
For folders. I'm not a fixed blade guy. But those are my folder recommendations

One of the nice things about Canadian knife laws is that the law is generally the same mostly everywhere. Only Edmonton and Montreal have knife bylaws I am aware of.

I'm in Edmonton. No knife bylaw here.

hahaha- right from the site that Goosey linked •No person shall carry a knife that is visible in a public place. that counteracts the federal law, lol.
thanks you hiwa. I read it and learned some things that I just could not find.
any other suggestions?
I currently have 2 gerber folders and another folder that my dad gave me that he had back in the military. I am not against folders I just want to get some bowies before I get any more folders.

Welcome to the forums.

I am very fond of Ka-Bar fixed blades myself. They are often reasonably priced and you can find several in your price range that have 7+ inch blades.

My personal favorite is the Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie ( 9" blade). If you look around you should be able to find one for under $50 or very close to it.

Best of luck!
