Yesterday in the mail I received an excellent package from Yorkshire’s own Lambsfoot-totin’ Santa Claus. Now you may be thinking to yourself, “Isn’t Santa supposed to deliver presents by Christmas Day?” Well, I happen to know that Yorkshire Santa is a pedestrian fellow — he gets around on his own two feet (maybe takes a train every now and then) — and with no sleigh or flying reindeer, he has to rely on the Postal Service to deliver packages for him, just like the rest of us. So you can hardly blame him if the package he sent arrived one day after Christmas, particularly since he mailed it way back on December 5th.
Yorkshire Santa (for brevity’s sake, let’s just call him “Jack”
) included several cool items in his package. There was a large, colorful tea towel with a map of Yorkshire on it, several local beer mats, an interesting (and humorous) “Yorkshire Passport” book, a couple stickers featuring the official Yorkshire greeting (“Ey up!”) and two nice buttons (badges?). He sent a Christmas card, and some nice gifts for my daughter, Eleanor. Perhaps the most unique item was a Vietnamese coffee maker, a sort of minimalist pour-over design intended to brew coffee right into a mug. I’m looking forward to trying that out! And of course, Jack included a Sheffield-made pocket knife. This one’s an ebony-clad Lambsfoot “Big ‘Un” (a combination I didn’t yet have!).

, thank you for this incredibly generous Christmas package! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, my friend!
