Had a hard time choosing something for this weekend. Decided on one of my favorites, the Sunset Internal Affair. There were three version of the IA to come out of the shop

- Combat Grade
- Limited Edition
- Sunset

This one has the same decarb finish as the filet knife from last month's Blade show. To my knowledge they are the only two knives with this finish. I used to have a third pic that really showed off the colors, but can't find the freaking thing right now. Personally, I think it's beautiful. Hope you agree and enjoy!

Thanks for the weekend eye candy. As you say, very beautiful. What handle slabs is it wearing and can you tell more about the IA and the decarb process. I'm relatively new, so there is much I'm in the dark on, thanks.

As an uneducated guess, I would hazard to say ivory micarta for the slabs. I have no idea how that rainbow finish was applied.

Thanks DN, you make the weekend even better!

Yes, the handle slabs are ivory micarta. I don't fully understand the decarb finish beyond that it is not actually a "finish" in the sense that it is not applied.

If I understood Jerry correctly (and I may not have), when a blade is heat treated it comes back with the blade usually looking a mess until the correct finish is applied. However on very very rare occasion the blade will come out with a brilliant color "finish" look to it. When this happens a knife essentially has a one of a kind finish that can never be duplicated. Even the filet knife has totally different colors and patterns.

that blade is defenitly awsome

that choil look to be pretty sharp also,,,in the last pic the choil looks like it may have a sharpened edge

is this true DN

Don't know I've never had the pleasure of handling it, but I doubt the choil is sharpened. Only Seth does that sort of thing to his Busses.

Ah! gotcha. Yeah, it looks like ti does have a sharpened swedge. You can clearly see where the colored finish stops with a sliver of bare metal showing.

I am pretty sure the swedge is sharpened as well. Notice how their is a section of exposed steel. Very cool.

D N,
Your explanation makes sense, and it truly would be a one of a kind. Thanks for taking the time.
