Eye-candy on Ebay

Yes, but I have seen as good if not better by the Kamis at BirGhorka, for less money, and you get a lifetime guarantee! Still, it would be a nice addition to my collection.

Thanks for the look.
I agree with Rene as to quality and cost. This one is too expensive for my blood, definitely not a bargain IMO.

Kinda looks like an AK, but I think it's probably a dui chiarra.:)
I love fullers, even on a plowshare.:D

Patrick---on E-Bay it's "Buyer Beware".Many items have good looking
pictures and some are even fakes. On the other hand H.I. & Bill
Martino are #1 in honesty & integrity. On this type of knife,i
would only go with H.I.

I gotta say a few words about Artzi Yarom of Oriental Arms. He is a fine stand up guy out of Haifa Israel who specializes in Islamic weapons. His prices tend to be very fair for what he sells, and he is an extremely knowledgeable collector/dealer. He will not advertise fakes/reproductions as originals, and he always lists whats wrong (ie. broken or non-original) with an item. I understand when we look at Ebay there is a tendency to shy away from more expensive items, in the search for the "amazing deal". Especially with the unknown factors we have to deal with its hard to justify making an higher end purchase. However thats why it does end up falling onto the buyer to educate themselves into what to look for, and what the prices tend to run. But I must repeat that Artzi is again a standup knowledgeable guy who is indeed very fair, and if he has a description of an item it will be honest and accurate. I personally though wouldnt go through Ebay to buy his stuff with all the bid wars that could erupt, but if you look at his site the pricing is fair for what he has. Sometimes the prices are real good, and other times theyre fair. Depends where you normally look and what youre into.

I have to agree somewhat that there are some good deals on E-bay. I have made my share of "informed" purchases. And the Khukuri in question could certainly be worth the money, considering provenance and antiquity.

However, considering the quality that BirGhorka has exhibited, the ability to request "customizing", and the all important lifetime guarantee, I'd still place my money with Himalayan Imports.

Still, I know that Federico has extensive experience (please visit his Moro Website), and if he says that the dealer is honest and has integrity, then I wouldn't hesitate to bid on the item.

Gee, this is the second time I've posted today conderning HI. And I thought I was getting cured of HIKV!!

We could buy from both. But since we arent all rich and some of our homes are getting clogged with blades (geez this collection ting never ends :D)decisions have to be made. ;) I like antiques, just because they got a certain old spirit to them from a time when they were meant to be used. However HI khuks got their own spirit and better still you can use em :D. I recommend HI to those not interested in antiques, but I had to say something about Oriental-Arms before people dismissed them outright. Oriental-Arms is a great place to get an antique blade. Really just depends on what you want and what you can afford. I had originally bought an HI khuk for display, but darnit I havent kept my Ang khola in its sheath since I got it. Theres just somethin about em that screams use me :D

They are made to be used and used hard.

Be on the lookout for a post by Will Kwan about very heavy khukuri use. I think he may have set a world record.
