Does anyone happen to have any good shots of a Fällkniven S1's tip and maybe the spine of the knife in general? I'm being pestered about it by a mate, and my camera is broken (because I dropped it into the lake, yeah, I was drunk ).
Nice pics, guys, thanks! Shots from the top, like in Mrrrtn's post, is exactly what I'm looking for. You know, something to show that the S1's tip is actually very sharp and thin at the end, and not "too thick" for skinning and such. Mate's a bit of a traditionalist, and is used to the usually very thin puukkos. But I'm gonna sell him on that S1!
It is the false edge that fools you. If you look at the picture with the S1 and the MT the flat portion, with the logo, has the same size, then the blade thinnes out downwards for the edge and up for the false edge.
The S1 is a very nice knife. I need to get myself one. I have two but those are too nice to be used
Yeah, the large false edge makes it look slimmer than it really is. Still, at least on my S1s the very end of the tip, where the sides of the cutting edges meet, is very thin and pointy, which is pretty much ideal for skinning and general poking around in animal hides. It's not like in some larger knives, like the BATAC, where the tip is very thick even even in the utmost end of the tip. That's the kind of thing that's hard to see in a photo, though.
Hey nodh, I think you should go with a black coated S1 for that user you want. They look like business, and somehow it's more fun to beat on them when they start looking used due to the coating wearing. The satin S1s are a little pretty for use.
