What is it?
Have you tried it? I will probably get the Kolt when i get some dough

On their website they display
CoS
(60 HRC)
C - 1.1
Si - 0.0
Cr - 16
W - 0.3
Mo - 1.5
Co - 2.5
P - 0.0
V - 0.3

Which is... not very different from VG10 as far as i can tell
Maybe they would sell more if they explained the advantages of their new fancy cobalt steel

I would ignore Cobalt at all. You will never reach temperatures in which it would be beneficial.
So, other than that we have high carbon, high Cr steel with MoV and without Si and Mn.
That later part is quite interesting. You don't see much stainless steels without Si and Mn...

Yes, I use the Kolt Knife as EDC since march.
I got it instantly it was introduced last winther.

The advantage over VG-10 seems to be a little bit more toughness and ease of sharpening.
VG-10 feels a little bit more resistant to wear.
Edgeholding is about the same and that's a good verdict, but IMO it's a long way up to the outstanding 3G steel.

The Kolt is a knife that wins on the practical size and overall usefullness in everyday life, regardless if You are working,at home or Outdoors.
I think this is of more importance than the steel, but the steel is good!

Now, the rubber part of the handle is a little bit special and honestly, it didn't fit my taste at all!
Luckily it's easy to strip the tang and attach a personal handle, wich I did.
I choosed a fine Sambar Stag Taper and used the same spacerpattern as the NL series.
The cut-off tinetip went into a matching firesteel.
Just for the fun of it!

The thin zytel bladecover, fits in several aftermarket leathersheaths.
Right now I use a JRE bushcraft model, but it also fits a KSF hunters pocket sheath.

I have matched it against the new Mora Robust and as good as the Mora truly is, I can't let go of my Kolt.
The Robust has to live in my toolboxes as the working tool it is and the Kolt is on my person.

Yep, I love this knife!

Yes 1234!

The Kolt lend itself very well for this kind of modding, as it already has a bolster.
The Sambar pith core is easily hollowed out to give room for the tang.
The rest is Epoxy and some attention to details, like the Nickelsilver endplate.

The flat endplate gives room for batoning the pommel with the palm, wich I often do at work.
It has proven strong enough also for batoning with a Nylon Mallet!

PB, no I'm sorry, I should have thought about getting some build pic's, but didn't.
Anyway the tang runs parallell to the lanyard hole and rounds off at the end.
To secure the bolster, there are two square pieces of sheathmetal, one on each side of the bolster.
They are pinned through the tang,so the bolster stays firmly in place.

Compared with FK rubber handles without bolsters, this model was a lot easier to rehandle due to the already parallell tang.

If this is what You seek, the 3G models are the answers if You're into FK's.
