I seen a Falkniven f-1 for sale made out of 3G Steel. cost twice as much though .
I 3G any better?

My vote leans slightly toward VG10 if the price difference is double. I have a PXL folder in 3G and an F1 in VG10 (each is laminated). For me: Edge holding on each is great but the 3G is very slightly better, 3G is slightly harder to sharpen, VG10 has been very serviceable with excellent edge retention etc. I enjoy both but whether one steel is 'worth' double obviously depends on the shade of your glasses

"3G is very slightly better " ?? Not in my experience , it's significantly better.

I have a 3G TK4 folder and a VG-10 F1. My experience with the 3G isnt very extensive though, ive mainly used my folder for small daily cutting tasks.

If i was you id go with the VG10 version. The 3G is very nice and hardwearing, but not worth the extra cost unless youve got alot of money burning a hole in your pocket.

My VG-10 F1 is pretty excellent as it is. Its easily sharpened, corrosion-resistant and hold its edge very well. Use the money saved on other goodies, perhaps a aftermarket sheath.

There's a FAQ of sorts on the differences at the Fallkniven forum on another site. I was all set to spend the extra for the 3G but decided that it didn't offer any really important upsides and would be tough to sharpen in the field. VG-10 is a very, very good steel. I've been happy that I went that way. YMMV...

The general decision on the Fallkniven forum was that 3G was great for the folders, and the WM1, but the advantage was lost on the larger blades, due to cost/performance.
