I was gifted a Fast Axe for Christmas by a buddy. This is an exceptional tool. I have played with them before and could see lots of utility. This is going to be a regular part of my outing gear. It is something of a cross between a hatchet, ulu and knife. It could easily replace a fixed blade knife and hatchet for light travel kit. A buddy of mine recently skinned a pig with his and had an easier time of it than he has had with purpose made knives int he past. They are available only through http://equinoxcoronado.com/ and the Fast Axe is made by Tops knives so you can be assured of quality.

One of the cool things about the Fast Axe is its deceptive size. I like tools that fit in my pocket. The Fast Axe is surprising in that it fits comfortable in a front pocket. I can even sit down and not have it jab into my side. It does not profile, and is quite concealable. Just an added bonus.

Thanks for the pics, it always helps to see size comparison before hitting the BUY button.

How does it chop? Better then a 7-9" blade of the same weight?
I haven't done any chopping with it, yet. I will be playing with it all this week. It feels good in the hand and I think it would easily replace my Ratweiler. I think it is going to be an excellent hatchet. What has surprised me more than anything is how easily it has replaced a knife for me. I have used it for a number of tasks these last couple of days and it is as easy to control as any knife. It actually handles like a 3 to 4 inch blade when choked up on.
Whats more is, it is far more versatile to grip than a knife.
