Been lurking for awhile. Picked up couple of boy scout axes at Thanksgiving and have reworked. Now I can't quit. Today I picked up a f. Harrold double bit. Cant seem to find any info on the head, does anyone have anything for me to go by? Harrold tool co. made screwdrivers and wrenches is all I can seem to find. Thanks in advance.

CORRECTION --- h. Harreld. See photos.

Looks like Harrold was operated by Woodings-Verona beginning in 1977, and Harrold and "Salem Forge" brands were used on some axes.

News-Journal from Mansfield, Ohio · Page 5

TROY, Mich. (UPI) -- The Budd Co. said it has entered into a merger agreement with the Harrold Tool Co., Columbiana. 0., a manufacturer of small hand tools. Harrold will become a subsidiary of Budd and will be operated by Woodings- Verona Tool Works Inc., Verona, Pa., another Budd subsidiary. The agreement calls for the issuance of Budd common shares to Harrold stockholders. Harrold's 1976 sales were approximately $1.7 million. Budd is a worldwide supplier to the automotive, trucking and railway industries.

Looks like Harrold was operated . . .
Thanks for posting the info. I tried to find more, but no real luck. There seems to be all kinds of Harrolds in mid-Ohio making things. One was involved in founding Crescent Machine Company in the late 1800's. There was Harrold Tool Co in Columbiana, OH, Harrold Tool & Mfg. Co., Columbiana, H. J. Harrold Tool Company, Columbiana, Ohio, which was renamed Harrold Tool & Forge Co., Columbiana, 0., and renamed again Colonial Tool & Forge Co.

I tried to magnify that ebay pic but it was pretty grainy. It looks to me like it only has a paper label, not a mark stamped in the metal like the others in this thread.

This photo shows the Harrold stamp on an axe head, along with a label that says Woodings-Verona.

(Image can be enlarged by right-clicking on it and choosing "view image", or the equivalent, and then clicking again for the magnifier.)

From the old listing:
Vintage Salem Forge Heritage Woodings-Verona Axe Hatchet head USA 3 5/8 pounds
The sticker/label says Salem Forge, Heritage Axe, Woodings-Verona, and some other stuff. See pics.

Darned if that isn't a different angle photo of the very same axe head (scratches and stains etc etc match) featured in the previous post (but sans handle), but this time entirely legible. I don't know how you do it Steve but patience (and persistence) in these quests must be a virtue.

Started to clean her up a bit more and I can sure tell you its Hard Steel. Im going to re-hang it and see what I come up with. Thanks for your efforts and quick results on the search.
