My first farrier's file fighter. This fast, full tang, file fighter (F4) is designed for the user that prefers a fast and light bowie. The major grinds were ground flat/concave on a large radius platen to reduce weight......the edge geometry is rolled in to convex, so this fighter can take the abuse of chopper work. The swedge is sharpened on this model. The file is a new Vallorbe farrier's file (Swedish made) - the steel corresponds to 1084. Thanks for viewing my work and your comments are welcome.

3/16" 1084 stock (farrier's file)
HT to Rc 59-60
Parks 50 quench - double draw
14" OAL
9" Flat/hollow ground blade
Full tang construction
Convex edge geometry
416 Stainless furniture
Pinned/soldered double guard
Ultra fine scotchbrite satin finish grinds
Black linen micarta scales
Red liners on tapered tang
8-10 oz Southern style sheath

I really like this one. It would be nice if there was a rasp that had the triangular pattern on both side because it looks so cool when ground. Nicely done.

Thanks - glad you like it. I agree with you - I like the triangular pattern the best - too bad they don't make them like that on both sides.

While I like it, if given the choice I would go with a knife like that ground out of 1084 bar stock rather than the file. But that's a matter of personal preference.

As always your work is top notch

Thanks for commenting - it's good for makers to try new things - for me, "Variety is the spice of life." Unless someone orders one like this off my website, future versions will be made out of W-2 with an active hamon. It was a fun build. :)
